School Programs

Our School Program Services

Helping students build confidence, resilience, and a positive connection to school.

At Make The Time, we partner with schools across Canberra to deliver personalised programs that engage students, improve wellbeing, and support positive behaviour. Our approach combines mentoring, group activities, and skill-building in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

We work closely with teachers, wellbeing coordinators, and parents to:

  • Re-engage students who are at risk of disengagement
  • Support emotional regulation and self-esteem
  • Improve school attendance and participation
  • Build teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
  • Foster resilience, independence, and a sense of belonging

Our programs are ideal for primary, secondary, and college-aged students, including those with additional needs, behavioural challenges, or who require extra social-emotional support.

Mentoring Program

Personalised one-on-one or small group support for student growth.

Our Mentoring Program helps students feel heard, supported, and motivated to succeed. Sessions are designed to meet individual needs, from building respectful communication and time management to setting and achieving personal goals. For older students, we also provide career exploration and work readiness guidance.

Mentors are trained in complex behaviour support, crisis intervention, and positive engagement strategies, ensuring sessions are purposeful and safe.

A typical Mentoring Program session:

Building trust and rapport to create a safe space for open conversation.

Encouraging the student to maintain a positive self-image and work towards agreed goals.

Aligning with the school’s priorities for improving wellbeing and engagement.

Ending on a positive note, with year-round support available for students who need it.

Perseus Program

Building collaboration, problem-solving, and belonging for groups of 10-20 students.

The Perseus Program is a structured group program that blends teamwork challenges, skill-building activities, and reflection to help students develop resilience, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Sessions are held off-site at Viking Park, giving students a fresh environment that improves engagement, boosts school attendance, and builds a sense of community. To make participation easier, Make The Time provides a bus service to transport students directly from school to Viking Park.

A typical Perseus Program session:

Reviewing the last session and discussing how the group can improve participation and collaboration.

Team-based activities that promote leadership, resilience, and teamwork.

Assessing performance across self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills.

Setting improvement goals for the next session.

Life Raft Program

Promoting emotional regulation, self-awareness, and positive peer connections.

The Life Raft Program is designed for whole classes, helping students manage emotions, improve social skills, and foster empathy. Through mindfulness activities, games, and reflection, students learn how to navigate challenges and make positive choices.

A competitive element between classes encourages participation and engagement, making learning fun while reinforcing important skills.

A typical Life Raft Program session:

Discussing the life skills “life rafts” that will be important for the day’s activity.

Practical games and exercises that build self-management, communication, and teamwork.

Group discussion and scoring on five key wellbeing categories.

Identifying what went well and what can be improved in the next session.
